The Weathervane Drum Room Mic Technique 

We like our stereo room mics to sound far away without the time delays of excessive distance. Also developed through the years in front of the Shaking Through video series cameras, this is the exact process we use to get our room sound. Presented in simple PDF format, The Weathervane Room Mic Technique gives you a chance to try it and teach it yourself. The Weathervane Overhead Drum Mic Technique 

There's a lot of different ways to record overheads, but here's a new approach. Developed under the watchful eye of the Weathervane Community and our Shaking Through video series, this is the process we use every time we record a song. The Weathervane Mix Roadmap

 

The comprehensive step-by-step process we follow every time we mix a song for Shaking Through, broken down into 7 Chapters, each rated for level of difficulty, estimated time commitment for easch chapter. This Procedural can be assigned all at once, or individual chapters can be assigned separately over time, depending on an instructor’s individual curriculum. (Comes with a special Instructor's Edition, including chapter summaries, discussion topics and simple quizzes to insure student comprehension.)

AUDIO DOWNLOADS FOR TEACHING

 

RAW TRACKS 

Original unprocessed multitracks from Shaking Through Recording Sessions, available in high or low resolution (24 bit, 88.2kHz or 16 bit. 44.1kHz). Give your students the opportunity to see and hear professionally produced tracks from real-world artists' music in raw form!  

MIX-STEMS 

Pre-Console Mix-Stems from Shaking Through final mixes, available in high or low resolution (24 bit, 88.2kHz or 16 bit. 44.1kHz).  Give your students a chance to see and hear the building blocks of a professional mix.  Excellent for demonstrating how a recording progresses from raw to finished form, and absolutley essential for electronic remixing!

 

DRUM SAMPLES 

The first thing we do after we capture the rhtyhm tracks for a new song, is to sample the drums. These are the original, unprocessed multitracks, perfect for mixing and bouncing samples for manual or triggered drum replacement demonstrations. Also, a remarkable resource for electronic remixing students. 

TRACK SHEETS 

All information about the gear and techniques used to record a song, from the first microphone placed to the final printed mix. Excellent information to demonstrate the scope of professional recordings, and to familiarize students with the real language of recording!
