STAFF MEMBERS
- Brian McTear (Director) is a musician, producer, recording engineer and the owner of Miner Street Recordings, a Philadelphia recording studio revered by independent musicians around the country. In the 13 years that McTear has worked in Philadelphia, he has produced over 100 records, has played a large part in the resurgence and success of the independent music community in Philadelphia, and the national and international success of several recording artists. McTear writes songs and sings in the band Bitter bitter weeks, and plays guitar with The Novenas. Brian grew up in Chester County, is a 1991 graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, and attended West Chester University from 1991-1995.
- Bill Robertson (Director of Development) is the Director of the Annual Fund at Woodberry Forest School in Woodberry Forest, Virginia. Bill grew up in the Lehigh Valley, he’s a 1992 graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, and is a 1996 graduate of Duke University. He’s a drummer and avid music fan.
- Katonah Coster (PR and New Media Manager) is currently working towards her Bachelor’s in English Lit with a minor in Consumer Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves as the Undergraduate Representative on the WXPN Policy Board and has worked as a Marketing intern at the station for three years. She is an ardent supporter of Philadelphia music and musicians.
- Josh Olmstead (Associate Director of Development, Grant Writer) is in charge of Marketing, Grant-writing and Public Relations at the Brandywine Ballet Company in West Chester PA, and is an Adjunct Instrumental Program Instructor at Chestnut Hill Acadamy in Philadelphia. Josh graduated in 2002 from Temple University. Josh writes songs and sings in his own band, and plays guitar in Philadelphia band, BC Camplight.
BOARD MEMBERS
- Bruce Warren is the Assistant Station Manager for Programming at WXPN in Philadelphia. He is the editor and founder of the music blog Some Velvet Blog, the Executive Producer of World Cafe, distributed by National Public Radio and served 8 years on the national board of directors for Public Radio Program Directors (PRPD). Bruce is the author of Wisdom For A Young Musician, published by Running Press. He has won numerous awards for Program Director of The Year from Radio And Records and Billboard Magazine. WXPN has won Triple A Station of The Year for the last eight years in a row. He recently completed his Masters degree coursework in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.
- Kristin Thomson is Education Director of the nonprofit Future of Music Coalition and co-owner of Simple Machines, an independent record label. She played guitar in the band Tsunami, which released four albums from 1991-1997 and toured extensively. She is currently responsible for FMC’s project management, research and event programming, including the annual Future of Music Policy Summit. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband Bryan Dilworth, a concert promoter, and their son, where she also plays guitar in the lady-powered band, Ken.
- Andy Williams serves as Executive Producer at DIVE, the visual effects and film finishing house established by Shooter’s Post and Transfer, Philadelphia in the Fall of 2006. He is the principal liaison between filmmakers and DIVE’s creative staff, and is a key player in establishing DIVE as one of the premiere post-production resources on the east coast. He is a 1995 graduate of La Salle University with a B.A. in Communications, as well as the former front man, singer and guitarist for the incomparable Philadelphia Indie-rock band, Lefty’s Deceiver.
- Joel Morowitz is one of the former owners of SpinART records, a label which operated for 17 years out of New York City, and brought artists such as The Apples in Stereo, Frank Black and the Catholics, Clem Snide and Michael Penn to the world. Since its disestablishment in 2007, Joel opened a high end, boutique audio equipment dealership called Ecstatic Electric.
- Paul Dickman owns and operates Dickman Entertainment Associates, LLC, a Philadelphia law firm specializing in music entertainment law. Paul is an expert in many facets of the industry, including artist management, record label affairs, publishing and record distribution. Paul’s experience and understanding of the transitions that the industry must undergo, make him a true asset to our mission.
- Mark Schoneveld is a pioneer and a leader in the emerging online video space. In 2007 he produced one of the first fully sponsored video podcasts ever, for the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation which won a 2008 Bronze Anvil Award for Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America. He is a founder of the crowdsourced commercial video network, Poptent.net, and has consulted several businesses and organizations on optimizing video on the web and developing a social media marketing strategy.
- Jenn Gross has owned and operated several businesses across Southern California and is currently the owner of Allure Pilates Spa, a wellness center located in Beverly Hills. In the past ten years as the paradigm of music production has shifted, she has acted as a business consultant to various artistic projects in the Los Angeles area. Jenn is currently building her own production studio and is excited to be a part of Weathervane because of her love for music and artistic freedom. She is a graduate of Duke University.
